A backup nobody has tested isn’t a backup — it’s a hope

The most dangerous sentence we hear from a client: we have backups. Our first question is always: when did you last restore from one? Nine times out of ten, the answer is silence.

A backup that runs unwatched is the same backup that turns out to be empty on the day it is needed.

What we do

Server administration. Monitoring, patching, and catching problems while they are still small.
Hardening. Closing gaps, tightening access permissions, and reviewing settings left needlessly wide open.
Backups. Scheduled, verified as actually having run, and held somewhere other than your office.
Restore testing. We periodically restore to a separate environment, so that when you need it you already know it works.
Disaster recovery planning. A written scenario: if the server fails, who does what, and how long until you are working again.

Questions worth asking yourself right now

If the server died today, how far back would you restore from? Yesterday? Last week?
Where is the backup stored? If it is on the same server or in the same building, it is not a backup.
When did anyone last test a restore?
Who checks each week that the backup actually ran?

If those answers are vague, that is exactly the gap we close.
